Black History Month, celebrated annually in February in the United States (and in October in the UK), is a time to honor the achievements, contributions, and struggles of African Americans throughout history. It originated from the efforts of historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, who established Negro History Week in 1926 to promote the study and recognition of African American history. The week was later expanded to a month-long observance, officially recognized as Black History Month in 1976. During this month, people commemorate the resilience, creativity, and leadership of African Americans, highlighting their significant impact on culture, politics, science, the arts, and every aspect of society. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality, while also celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of the African American community.
Women's History Month is an annual observance held in March to honor and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and struggles of women throughout history. It originated from International Women's Day, which was first celebrated in 1911 and later expanded to encompass the entire month in the United States in 1987. During Women's History Month, people highlight the accomplishments of women in various fields, including science, literature, politics, art, education, and social justice. It serves as a time to recognize the often overlooked or marginalized roles that women have played in shaping history and society, as well as to advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide. Through events, exhibitions, lectures, and other activities, Women's History Month aims to raise awareness, educate, and inspire future generations to continue the fight for women's rights and equality.
Autism Awareness Month is observed annually in April to increase public awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a complex neurodevelopmental condition. These activities may include educational events, fundraising campaigns, awareness walks, social media campaigns, and initiatives to promote acceptance and understanding in schools, workplaces, and communities. The ultimate goal of Autism Awareness Month is to foster a more inclusive and supportive society for individuals with autism, where they are valued, respected, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Mental Health Month aims to encourage open conversations about mental health, increase understanding of mental illnesses, and promote access to mental health services and support networks. Through various activities such as educational events, workshops, screenings, and outreach campaigns, Mental Health Month seeks to empower individuals to prioritize their mental well-being and seek help when needed. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, empathy, and support for those affected by mental health challenges.
At OurVision, our DEIB commitment extends to honoring Pride Month as a reflection of our core values rooted in service, humility, and the love of God. As coworkers in the life of Christ, we believe in embodying leadership that celebrates and uplifts all people, ensuring that every individual feels valued and respected. We stand firmly behind the principles of the Civil Rights Act, advocating for fair treatment and the opportunity for all citizens to thrive in their talents, nurture their families, and contribute to a peaceful and just society. Through this, we witness the transformative power of God's love in our communities.
At OurVision, we stand in solidarity with U.S. police departments, fire departments, community policing efforts, and faith-based leadership to foster safer communities and promote mental health wellness. Our dedication to service extends beyond the walls of the church, as we seek to offer our police/fire/safety services at no charge to our city. Consciously we commit to all our other services which will remain in alignment with the cost of living and the needs of our family and community. By supporting entrepreneurs, tentmakers, parents, and all leaders, we strive to help them flourish. Our commitment is driven by empathy, and we are determined to be as generous as our hearts allow, with our sufficiency rooted in faith and purpose.
Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, is a time to recognize and honor the cultural contributions, traditions, and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans. During Hispanic Heritage Month, communities across the country come together to celebrate the diverse cultures, languages, cuisines, music, art, and history of Hispanic and Latino Americans through festivals, events, exhibitions, educational programs, and other activities. It is an opportunity to reflect on the profound impact and enduring legacy of Hispanic and Latino Americans on American society and to foster understanding, appreciation, and solidarity across cultural boundaries.

The campaign is marked by various activities and initiatives, including fundraising events, educational workshops, health fairs, and community outreach efforts. Pink ribbons, the universal symbol of breast cancer awareness, are prominently displayed to show solidarity and support for breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment, as well as to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives to the disease. Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection, regular screening, and access to quality care in the fight against breast cancer.
